My level 6 ranger has a +2 composite longbow with the flaming enchantment ‘attached’.
In the Dungeon Masters guide, the flaming effect is the equivalent of a +1 bonus
My strength modifier is +2, and my dex is +5
(would i use my dex modifier too on attack rolls, or just the +2?)
Last time I used it with my Current DM, he didn’t let me use the flaming ability because of some rule he told me…
So if I was going to ‘use it properly’, would it be
Roll d20 for attack, +2
Roll for damage (if i hit), and the 1d6 fire?
Any other ‘suggestions/ideas’ you have for me would help lots ^^

The Dex +5 is added to your chance to hit only for missile weapons. the +1 for the fire is not used except for in figuring out about a weapon’s cost to make. You get a bonus 1D6 fire damage when you hit.
Now, your Ranger can make his own Great Strength longbows, where you use up to a +4 of your strength modifier…
Other than that, what you have shared here, you are +6 for your Ranger Level, +2 for the Bow, and +5 for your Dex, for a total of +13 to hit and a [1D6+2 normal damage & +1D6 fire damage]
Now against your favored enemy you also get more bonus to hit and damage… and you might even pay some mage to make a Great Strength bow into a Bane Bow as well for you… the + to hit and damage for the great strength does not count towards the 10 of a weapon, so you get a bit of an extra bonus…
